Wout Denorme – Penetration Tester

Hi, I’m Wout, and I work as a web application Penetration Tester at tSF.

My journey into cybersecurity started when I was studying programming at Howest. One of the classes introduced me to ethical hacking and pentesting, and I was immediately hooked. That first hands-on experience – and realizing just how vulnerable some major websites really are – sparked a curiosity that hasn’t left me since.

I discovered tSF while looking for a place to do my internship during my final year as a cybersecurity student. Their focus on practical learning and real-world pentesting sounded like exactly what I was looking for. After completing a three-month internship, I was thrilled to be officially hired.

At tSF, I mainly work on web and API pentests. What I enjoy most is the variety – no two applications are ever the same, which keeps the work interesting and challenging. One of the coolest moments so far was getting to pentest a platform I’d used for years as a regular user. It felt extra rewarding to approach it from the other side.

What makes tSF special for me?

The people. The team is supportive – whether it’s sharing knowledge or just having a laugh together. When I was new to the field, I never felt like any of my questions were too basic, and that really helped me grow. The culture here strikes a great balance: we aim for high-quality work, but in a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere.

Since joining tSF, I’ve gone from being a student with a basic understanding of pentesting to someone who can confidently contribute to complex projects.
Right now, I’m focused on deepening my knowledge of web pentesting, and eventually, I’d love to branch out into other areas like internal or external network testing.

Outside of work, you’ll – perhaps unsurprisingly for a pentester – often find me behind a screen, playing video games to unwind. But not everything I do involves a keyboard and a monitor. I also enjoy staying active by going for walks, cycling, and regularly working out at my local gym. Whether it’s clearing my head during a long walk or pushing through a tough workout, I find that staying physically active helps me recharge and stay sharp – both in and out of the office.
